The Scribe project was a joint initiative in the 1980s by NALC (National
Association of Local Councils), the agency which is now the IDeA (Improvement
and Development Agency), and Andrew Pickering, who at the time was a Clerk of a local council as well as working in IT
in Local Government. Although products from a few other companies have been introduced onto the market since that time, Scribe
2000 remains the current software range provided by Andrew Pickering and his associates.
Andrew Pickering co-ordinates sales, licences and support for Scribe 2000. He was
employed as a Manager in Local Government for many years, with responsibility for development and support on a range of PC
and Unix based computer systems, primarily related to Planning and Geographic Information Systems. He was a part-time Clerk
of a Local Council for 12 years.
Development of software for Scribe 2000 has been provided by Brian Johnson. Qualified in
engineering, Brian was formerly a Manager and Director in the production world for many years, including being a driving force
in the implementation of IT systems. He has worked as a Consultant for individual Councils.
Some software development and testing is now also being provided by external developers, to meet the specifications and designs set down by Scribe 2000 to ensure continuation of our high standards.
External support on accounts is also available optionally from auditors and experienced users.
