The cemetery module deals with the day-to-day administration of burial grounds, in a context which will support future trends

Features included allow you to:

  • Maintain a Register of burials 
  • Maintain a Register of memorials
  • Maintain a Register of exclusive rights of burial
  • Maintain detailed grave records, including depths and positions of multiple burials
  • Issue formal notices and Grants of Rights
  • Print instructions to gravediggers and issue a Certificate of burial
  • Keep a register of funeral directors, stonemasons, or other regular agents
  • Keep separate Cemetery fee accounts
  • Issue invoices for fees if required
  • Record receipts against invoices
  • Financial reports, for instance on outstanding invoices
  • Record fees for additional services such as genealogy searches or other items of remembrance
  • Search in registers for names or graves or dates
  • Search in all registers for all entries relating to a specified grave
  • Produce register reports from each register, for one or all sites, for selection of names or dates or graves

Extra features in Version 10 also take into account proposals in the Government's consultation paper, and are intended to support 21st Century burial grounds:

  • Aims to match codes of practice of bodies such as ICCM, NAMM and NDS, including the Charter for the Bereaved
  • Risk management - including detailed memorial records, condition surveys and remedial actions
  • Ability to export data for use with on-site surveys
  • Photographic images of memorials held on file - both archive and current
  • Multiple registers and cemetery sites - areas set aside for different traditions, or different types of burial
  • Enhanced support for multiple burials, pre-natal and hospital burials, and non-statutory registers
  • Flexibly designed to support cemeteries operated as natural burial grounds, pet cemeteries, or similar, and to cover private as well as local authority sites
  • Supports grave re-use strategies, and future needs assessment, in line with the consultation paper
  • Extra software for Cemetery ground plans and GIS mapping included free of charge !
  • Scanned drawings, maps or air photographs can be installed as a base for the Cemetery plan
  • Aims generally to facilitate e-government requirements
  • Facilitates links to other technologies, for instance cross-referencing with GPS or microchip IDs, cross-referencing with GIS. Data geocoding, archive data capture, purchase of digital data, or purchase of other technologies can be assisted where necessary.
  • Range of detailed User guides are included, for the cemetery software, for dealing with special cases, for using maps and plans, and for using the free GIS

The standard annual fee for the Scribe 2000 Cemetery software is £ 145 for a parish or town council (see Costs section for further details and discounts). For other local authorities there is a minimum fee equivalent to a standard network licence of £ 290 pa.
